The First Japanese Cultural Event “Calligraphy Experience” was held
On Monday, May 12, 2025, the First Japanese Cultural Event “Calligraphy Experience” was held for international students, and 20 international students including foreign researchers participated.
This event was organized in collaboration with the university's calligraphy circle, Yushokai. At the venue, a video of Yushokai's calligraphy performance at the Wakaayu Festival was projected, followed by a lecture explaining various brush strokes and techniques. Participants then observed a demonstration using a large brush and engaged in hands-on calligraphy practice in small groups.
To enhance the experience, full-sized paper was prepared for participants to try writing with a large brush. They also practiced writing their favorite characters on small paper, which were later used to create original calendars.
This enjoyable workshop allowed international students to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture. It also served as a valuable opportunity to promote international exchange among students.
